Rinku was last seen in action during the three-match T20I series in Sri Lanka. The left-hander didn’t enjoy a great outing with the bat, scoring just one run each in his two innings.

He, however, scalped two wickets against the hosts in the penultimate over of the third T20I, which helped India tie the match. The Suryakumar Yadav-led side then won the Super Over. Rinku will next play in the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh in October.

India’s new head coach Gautam Gambhir has warned the youngsters to maintain their fitness during the two-month break. Speaking to the BCCI, he said (via Hindustan Times):

"You can take a break. You deserve it, but more importantly, keep your skills and especially the fitness levels high.
"You don't want to come for that series thinking that 'Okay, I can just turn up, probably deliver for the team'. So, make sure that from the fitness point of view, the fitness levels are right up there."

Meanwhile, Jadeja has been rested for the ongoing ODI series in Sri Lanka. The all-rounder announced his retirement from T20Is after the 2024 T20 World Cup alongside Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. The 35-year-old will next be in action in the two-match Test series against Bangladesh in September.

“There's a big Test season coming up” – Ajit Agarkar on why Ravindra Jadeja was rested for ODI series in Sri Lanka

Team India selection chairman Ajit Agarkar recently confirmed that Jadeja has been rested ahead of the Test season. He said (via India Today):

“It would have been pointless to take both Axar and Jaddu for a three-match series. He has had a terrific World Cup. Not at all dropped. Either of them wouldn't have featured in games had we taken him.
"There's a big Test season coming up. We should have clarified it when the squad was announced. He is still part of the format. He is a very important player for us.”

Ravindra Jadeja has played 197 ODIs, scoring 2756 runs with the help of 13 half-centuries. The left-arm spinner has bagged 220 wickets at an economy rate of 4.88.
