Indian cricketer Suryakumar Yadav posted an update on Instagram from his training session on Friday, October 4. He will return to the field as the Men in Blue take on Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series starting Sunday, October 6, in Gwalior. The second match is set for Delhi on October 9, with Hyderabad hosting the series finale on October 12.
Suryakumar was last seen in action when he appeared for India B in the Round 3 game of the 2024 Duleep Trophy. The Mumbai cricketer had a disappointing tournament, managing scores of 5 and 16 across two innings, with India D winning the match by 257 runs.
The 34-year-old will now be back in the blue jersey, and he shared a post on Instagram on Friday from his training session. He captioned the post:
“Back in my favorite colour.”
Suryakumar will captain a squad featuring three uncapped players: Harshit Rana, Mayank Yadav, and Nitish Kumar Reddy. Meanwhile, Varun Chakaravarthy returns to the team for the first time since 2021.

India clean swept Sri Lanka in Suryakumar Yadav’s debut series as full-time captain
Suryakumar Yadav played a key role in the 2024 T20 World Cup, where India triumphed under Rohit Sharma's leadership. He made a crucial catch off David Miller in the final, securing a seven-run victory for the Men in Blue against South Africa.
Following the tournament, Rohit retired from T20Is, and Suryakumar was appointed as the new captain for the format. In his debut series as full-time captain, he led India to a clean sweep of Sri Lanka in a three-match T20I series. Suryakumar scored 92 runs across the three games and took two wickets, earning the Player of the Series award.
