The Consulate General of India in Johannesburg hosted the Men in Blue for a dinner ahead of the fourth and final T20I against South Africa on Thursday, November 14. The match is scheduled for Friday, November 15, at Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.
On Friday, the BCCI shared photos from the event on their X account, featuring the team posing with the staff. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav and coach VVS Laxman also addressed the gathering. The BCCI captioned the post:
“A lovely evening at Joburg. The Consulate General of India, Johannesburg hosted #TeamIndia for dinner yesterday ahead of the fourth T20I.”
Meanwhile, India head into the final game with a 2-1 series lead. The Men in Blue have remained unbeaten in their last seven bilateral series and, since their 2024 T20 World Cup victory, have won three straight series, defeating Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh.
Tilak Varma's maiden ton guides India to victory in the 3rd T20I against South Africa
South Africa won the toss and elected to bowl first. Marco Jansen struck early, dismissing Sanju Samson for a two-ball duck. However, Tilak Varma and Abhishek Sharma launched a counterattack, adding 107 runs off 52 balls for the second wicket. Sharma contributed a quick-fire 50 off 25 balls, including three boundaries and five sixes.
Tilak was exceptional, reaching his fifty off 32 balls. The southpaw didn’t hold back, blasting his next 50 runs off just 19 balls to bring up his maiden T20I century off 51 balls. He remained unbeaten on 107 off 56 deliveries, with eight boundaries and seven sixes. Debutant Ramandeep Singh also made a valuable contribution, scoring 15 off six balls, as India finished with a commanding 219/6 after 20 overs.
In response, several South African batters got starts but couldn’t capitalize on them. Heinrich Klaasen made 41 off 22 balls. Towards the end, Marco Jansen went on a rampage, hitting 50 off just 16 balls. He finished with 54 off 17, but South Africa fell short by 11 runs. Arshdeep Singh was the pick of the bowlers for India, claiming three wickets.
