[In Pictures] Harmanpreet Kaur and Co. arrive in Sri Lanka for 2024 Women’s Asia Cup

The India Women’s cricket team has arrived in Sri Lanka’s Dambulla for the upcoming 2024 Women’s Asia Cup. The Women in Blue reached the island country a day after leaving Chennai on Monday, July 15.

Notably, India are the defending champions of the Women’s Asia Cup. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side beat Sri Lanka by eight wickets in the 2022 final. They are also the most successful team in the tournament, winning the trophy seven times. Bangladesh are the only other winner, having triumphed in 2018.

In a few pictures shared by Sri Lanka Cricket’s official handle on X, India captain Harmanpreet and other star players like Jemimah Rodrigues and Shreyanka Patil were seen coming out of the airport. They captioned the post:

“Welcome to Sri Lanka, Team India and Team Bangladesh! The stage is set, the teams are ready, and the action is about to begin in Dambulla on July 19th.”

India Women are coming on the back of a promising performance against South Africa. They beat the Proteas in the ODI series 3-0 and one-off Test by 10 wickets before tying the T20I series 1-1.


India’s schedule and squad for 2024 Women’s Asia Cup

India will begin their Women’s Asia Cup campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan at Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium on Friday, July 19. They will be looking to continue their domination in the intercontinental tournament by winning their eighth trophy.

  • July 19: vs Pakistan at 7 pm IST
  • July 21: vs UAE at 2 pm IST
  • July 23: vs Nepal at 7 pm IST
  • July 26: 1st and 2ndsemifinals (2 pm and 7 pm IST, respectively)
  • July 28: Final at 7 pm IST

Note: All the matches will be played in Dambulla. Like the previous three editions, the tournament will be played in the T20 format.
