[In Pictures] Indian cricketer Chetan Sakariya gets married
Indian cricketer Chetan Sakariya exchanged wedding vows with his wife, Meghna, on July 14. Chetan, who represents Saurashtra in domestic cricket, took to Instagram on Tuesday, July 23, to announce his wedding. The left-arm pacer, who was in the Kolkata Knight Riders squad that won the IPL 2024, previously announced his engagement on Instagram on December 5, 2023.
The 26-year-old posted some photos from his wedding to Instagram on July 23. Sakariya captioned the post:
“The day I become You and You become I. 👰🏻🤵🏻💍 14/07/2024❣️ #justmarried #love.”
Sakariya made his IPL debut for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in 2021. He had a decent maiden season as he took 14 wickets in the same number of matches at an economy of 8.19.
The left-arm pacer was bought by the Delhi Capitals (DC) ahead of the IPL 2022 for ₹4.20 crore, but he didn’t get enough playtime. He only played five games in two seasons for the DC and took six wickets.
The Saurashtra player was bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for ₹50 lakh for IPL 2024 but didn’t play a single match as he watched all the proceedings from the sidelines. KKR won their third title in 2024 under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer.
When Chetan Sakariya opened up on Team India motivation
After a decent maiden IPL 2021 season, Chetan was selected for the series against Sri Lankan later that year. However, he has not donned the Indian jersey ever since.
In an interview with Sportskeeda in December 2023, Sakariya said he hasn’t given up the dream of playing for India regularly and takes motivation from the current set of players.
"Definitely any player who plays for India is an inspiration because each player has his own journey and struggles to reach the top and clinch the dream," Chetan said.
"So be it age factor of whatever, whenever I feel a bit low or a bit disappointed, I always look up to these players and push myself to keep working hard on my game and one day reach my goal," he continued.
Chetan Sakariya has represented India in one ODI and two T20Is.
