Rahul’s most recent appearance for the senior team was in the opening match of the three-Test series against New Zealand. The 32-year-old had a challenging outing, scoring a duck and 12 in his two innings, as the Black Caps won by eight wickets.
Following his underwhelming performance in the first match, the right-handed batter was dropped for the next two Tests. However, despite the changes, India failed to turn the tide, as the visitors clinched the next two matches by 113 and 25 runs, respectively, completing a whitewash against India.
