[In Pictures] Michael Neser runs through India A's top order in 2nd unofficial Test; Easwaran and Rahul record 0 and 4

India A's tough time on Australian soil continued as they were subjected to another first-innings collapse against Australia A. The Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side slumped to 11-4 inside three overs as Michael Neser and Scott Boland ran the show with the new ball on Day 1 of the second unofficial Test on Thursday, November 7.

Being put into bat first at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), India A lost Abhimanyu Easwaran for a three-ball duck in the first over itself. The opening batter was undone by a delivery that jumped up from a length, marking his third successive low score in Australia.

The in-form Sai Sudharsan, who recorded a ton in the first Test, was the next to follow. The left-handed batter edged one to slips to depart for a golden duck, leaving India at 0-2 after four deliveries into the contest.

KL Rahul, back at the top of the order, began proceedings with a four off Scott Boland's fist over but was dismissed three balls later. Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, coming in at No. 4, became Neser's third scalp.

India had endured a similar collapse in the first unofficial Test in Mackay. On that occasion, they were skittled out for 107 runs, with only three batters reaching double figures.

Dhruv Jurel's fifty is the lone bright spot for India A

Dhruv Jurel was one of the late additions made to the India A setup along with KL Rahul. The wicketkeeper-batter was on the bench for the entirety of the home season following Rishabh Pant's return. However, he showed no signs of being out of touch after playing out more than 100 deliveries during a crisis.

As of writing, Jurel is still hanging on and batting with the tail to stretch India's first-innings score. He is unbeaten on 72 runs off 149 deliveries as India A are placed at 132-8 in the second session of the opening day.
