[In Pictures] "My most important catch was actually 8 years ago!" - Suryakumar Yadav celebrates wedding anniversary with Devisha Shetty

Team India's dynamic batter Suryakumar Yadav and his wife Devisha Shetty celebrated their eighth wedding anniversary on Sunday, July 7. The cricket star shared a few pictures on his official Instagram handles, giving fans a glimpse of the celebration.

Suryakumar and Devisha first met each other in 2010 when they were studying at the R.A. Podar College of Commerce and Economics. After dating for a few years, the two tied the knot in 2016.

On the cricketing front, Suryakumar bagged praise from all quarters for his juggling catch to dismiss David Miller in the last over of the 2024 T20 World Cup final between India and South Africa last month.

The 33-year-old, however, mentioned that his most important catch was eight years ago when he got married to Devisha. Suryakumar captioned the post:

"Yesterday marked 8 days since THAT catch but my most important catch was actually 8 years ago! 8 years ago, ∞ years to go."

Suryakumar Yadav's catch was instrumental in India eking out a seven-run win over South Africa in the 2024 T20 World Cup final. The swashbuckling batter was the Men in Blue's second-highest run-getter in the edition, amassing 199 runs across eight outings at a strike rate of 135.37.

"I will forever remember these 5-7 seconds in my life" - Suryakumar Yadav on his 2024 T20 World Cup final catch

The 2024 T20 World Cup final was evenly poised ahead of the 20th over as South Africa required 16 runs off the last six balls with the well-set David Miller at the crease.

Bowling the all-important final over, Hardik Pandya dished out a low full toss outside the off stump. Miller attempted to hit it down the ground and seemed to have got a decent connection.

However, Suryakumar Yadav's fielding brilliance in the deep changed the dynamics of the match. Speaking about the catch, he suggested that his initial thought was to run as fast as he could to save a boundary.

He stated that he decided to go for a catch at the very last moment. Suryakumar Yadav told Revsportz:

"When I started running I was not thinking of the catch. I was running with every iota of strength in my legs to make sure I somehow saved the boundary. I wanted to throw the ball back in and save two or three runs at least for the team. And honestly, I was not thinking of the catch."
"When I reached the ball and it came into my hands I realised there was an opportunity for me to take the catch and toss the ball up. I felt I could go out and come back in to complete that catch. I had 5-7 seconds to make that call and let me say to you I will forever remember these 5-7 seconds in my life. I made the call and it worked out for us."

India's 2024 T20 World Cup-winning squad met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi before arriving in Mumbai, where a special felicitation ceremony was organized at the Wankhede Stadium.
