[In Pictures] Ravichandran Ashwin gets out for 7 after failing to deal with a Pat Cummins bouncer in 2nd BGT 2024-25 Test
Ravichandran Ashwin's vigil with the bat ended after he failed to tackle a bouncer from Pat Cummins in the second Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 Test at the Adelaide Oval. With the wicket, Team India were reduced to 148/7, still trailing by 10 runs.
India began the day at 128/5 with Nitish Reddy and Rishabh Pant in the middle and still trailing by 29 runs. The visitors lost Pant (28) in the first over of the day to Mitchell Starc. The dismissal brought Ashwin to the middle. The veteran off-spinner showed some application for his 14-ball stay but ultimately was undone by a Cummins bouncer.
The Aussie skipper tested Ashwin with a barrage of bouncers before the latter edged one to wicketkeeper Alex Carey. Ashwin tried to play a hook shot that was going down the leg side and in the process only managed to get a glove onto it. Carey moved to his lift to complete an easy catch.

Ravichandran Ashwin played a valuable hand in the first innings of the Adelaide Test, scoring run-a-ball 22. He stitched together a decent partnership with Nitish Reddy to stretch India's total to 180.
However, the home side bettered it by scoring 337 runs in their first essay, thanks to a stellar century from Travis Head (140 off 141 balls).
Australia close to leveling BGT 2024-25 at 1-1
Pat Cummins and company lost the first Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 Test in Perth. The hosts were completely demolished by India in Perth, beating them by 295 runs. As a result, they took a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.
However, Australia are close to leveling the series. They need just two more wickets to bounce back in the series. It is worth noting that the Aussies have not won the last four editions of the BGT.
At the time of writing, Australia are 4/0 in pursuit of 19 runs, needing only 15 runs to win.
