[In Pictures] Ravindra Jadeja spends quality time at his farmhouse ahead of IND vs NZ Test series

India star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is spending quality time at his farmhouse ahead of the upcoming three-match home Test series against New Zealand. The 35-year-old took to social media to share pictures with his horse at his farmhouse, located 25 kilometers from his residence at Jamnagar in Gujarat.

The post comes days after the two-match Test series against Bangladesh, which India won 2-0.

Jadeja captioned his Instagram post:

In a 2020 interview, Ravindra Jadeja shared his love for his horses. He told Hindustan Times:

“I bought a few horses in 2010 for my farmhouse and have been enjoying taking care of them. I just breed for myself and don’t intend to sell them. In life, due to cricket practice, I could never spend enough time at my farm house, but I am glad I got the chance in the last few months. I used to go to my friend’s place for riding horses and gradually, I got interested in horses and horse breeding.”
“I would prepare their meals which included chana, jaggery and corn and their proportion. I would also ensure the quality of grass that they got was top-notch. Post the lockdown, I would drive to the farmhouse, which is 25 kilometres away from the city as I couldn’t stay away,” he added.

“For them winning matches for India is the only thing that matters” – Sunil Gavaskar heaped praise on Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin

Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar recently lauded Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin for their all-round contributions to India in Test cricket. The reaction came as the duo put on a 199-run partnership after the hosts were reduced to 144/6 in the first innings of the opening Test against Bangladesh.

He wrote in his Mid-Day column:

"In the first Test of the current two-Test match series, the way the two Ravis, Ashwin, and Jadeja brought the team back in the game showed this team is never done and can get back even if the referee has reached the count of eight. Both these all-rounders have been magnificent over the years and rescued and then won several games for India.”
“It would have been fitting if only they had captained India too even if it was for one game, but for them winning matches for India is the only thing that matters," he added.

Ravindra Jadeja, in particular, became the second quickest Indian after Ravichandran Ashwin to complete 300 wickets in Tests during the second game versus Bangladesh.

Apart from his 86-run knock in the opening game, Jadeja also bagged nine wickets in the two-match Test series. Meanwhile, Ashwin was adjudged Player of the Series for his century and 11 wickets.
