On the professional front, Rinku returned with scores of 0. 48*, 1*, and 11* in his four outings during the T20I series in Zimbabwe. The left-hander has amassed 416 runs in 20 T20Is at a strike rate of 176.27, comprising two half-centuries. The 26-year-old is favorite to be picked in India’s squad for the upcoming white-ball series comprising three T20Is and as many ODIs in Sri Lanka, which starts on July 27.

On the other hand, Jurel managed scores of eight, 56*, and six in his three innings. With Sanju Samson and Rishabh Pant already in the mix, Jurel is unlikely to play in Sri Lanka.

“I can’t find any technical reasons why Rinku Singh cannot be a successful Test batter” – Vikram Rathour

India’s batting coach Vikram Rathour has backed Rinku Singh to succeed in Tests if he gets an opportunity to play for the national team in the red-ball format. He recently told PTI (via ESPNCricinfo):

"When I see him bat in nets, I can't find any technical reasons why Rinku cannot be a successful Test batter. I understand he has made his name as a terrific finisher in T20 cricket but if you look at his first-class record, he is averaging in the high 50s.
"He is also blessed with a very calm temperament. So, all these factors indicate that if given an opportunity, he can develop into a Test cricketer," he added.

Rinku Singh, who plays for UP in the Ranji Trophy, has amassed 3173 runs in 47 first-class matches at an average of 54.70 with the help of seven centuries and 20 fifties.
