[In Pictures] Rohit Sharma puts up a post with moments from the 2024 IPL season ahead of uncertain futureĀ

Mumbai Indians (MI) opening batter Rohit Sharma put up a cryptic post on social media on Sunday, May 19, with some snapshots from the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL). The five-time winners finished bottom of the table for the second time in three years, and it could also mark the former skipper's illustrious stint with the franchise.

Rohit captioned the post with a blue heart, and the images included ones of the Wankhede crowd, him in training, the official team portrait for the season and him autographing a bat on the iconic Wankhede stairs. Now whether this is just a post to appreciate his love for the franchise after a difficult season, or something paving the way to a potential farewell is yet to be known.

Fans have flooded the comment section requesting Rohit Sharma to not leave the franchise just yet. While some were confused over the context of the post.

Rohit Sharma scored a brilliant 68 to finish his IPL 2024 campaign

The opening batter ended his season on a high with a trademark innings. He scored 68 runs off 38 deliveries in MI's 18-run loss against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Wankhede Stadium.

Rohit was met with a rousing reception by the crowd after he was dismissed by Ravi Bishnoi during the run chase.

Rohit Sharma has officially not issued any comment regarding his future so far. Although the leaked audio of the conversation with KKR assistant coach Abhishek Nayar ahead of the contest at Eden Gardens hinted that he may step aside after this season, KKR CEO Venky Mysore has rubbished such claims recently.

Rohit Sharma ended the season with 407 runs in 14 innings at a strike rate of 150 and an average of 32.08. His highest point of the season was arguably the ton against rivals Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Wankhede Stadium on April 14.
