[In Pictures] Rohit Sharma sweats it out in the MCA gym ahead of IND vs BAN 2024 Test series

Team India skipper Rohit Sharma was seen working out at the Mumbai Cricket Association's (MCA) newly renovated gym as he geared up for the upcoming two-match home Test series against Bangladesh. The veteran opener has been working hard on his fitness ahead of the Men in Blue's crucial Test season.

Taking to its official X account on Thursday, September 5, the MCA shared pictures of Sharma training in the gym. The board mentioned that the 37-year-old was the first person to use the revamped facility.

MCA wrote:

"We're thrilled to share a glimpse of the first person to use our newly renovated gym for a workout: our captain, 𝓑𝓸𝓱𝓲𝓽 𝓒𝓱π“ͺ𝓻𝓢π“ͺ! A new era of fitness begins with him leading the way!"

Rohit Sharma was last seen in action during India's three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka in August. He was the standout batting performer for the visitors in the away-from-home rubber, registering scores of 58, 64 and 35.

The ODI series opener between the two Asian teams ended in a tie. Sri Lanka secured back-to-back wins in the remaining two fixtures, clinching their first ODI series victory over India in 27 years.


"It is an incredible experience" - Yashasvi Jaiswal on batting with Rohit Sharma

Team India's opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal recently opened up on his experience of batting alongside Rohit Sharma. He mentioned that there were many things that he could learn from the seasoned campaigner.

The youngster stated that Sharma has a great understanding of pitches. Speaking ahead of the 17th edition of the Duldeep Trophy (via ANI), Jaiswal said:

"It is an incredible experience whenever I go out and bat with him. He has shared his experiences with me. I think the way he controls the game and understands the wicket, it is spot on and there are a lot of things (to learn from him). You can learn from him things like adjusting your batting to seaming or turning tracks or change your batting when a wicket or two fall."

The two-match Test series between India and Bangladesh will kick off on September 19 in Chennai. The second Test will be played in Kanpur from September 27 onwards.
