Suryakumar Yadav completed a hat-trick of series wins as new T20I captain
Suryakumar Yadav recently completed a hat-trick of series wins as India's new T20I captain. He helped India beat Sri Lanka 3-0 away from home before guiding the Men in Blue to a 3-0 win against Bangladesh. He also led India to a 3-1 series win in South Africa.
India have not lost a T20I series since the 2024 T20 World Cup. Shubman Gill-led India beat Zimbabwe by a 4-1 margin when senior players were rested.
With no T20I scheduled this year, Suryakumar Yadav could play for Mumbai in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (T20 format) and the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy (One Day).
Team India will next play a T20I series against England starting January 22. The senior team is currently in Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Notably, Suryakumar Yadav is not part of the Test and ODI side. He was recently retained by five-time champions Mumbai Indians for ₹16.35 ahead of the IPL 2025 auction.
