Former India captain Virat Kohli, head coach Gautam Gambhir, and star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant together left for Delhi from Chennai after the first Test against Bangladesh. While Kohli and Gambhir are originally from Delhi, Pant also resides in Delhi’s Uttam Nagar.
Kohli has moved to London with his wife Anushka Sharma and kids Vamika and Akaay. His elder brother Vikas continues to stay in his hometown Delhi. His last meeting with his family came after at a team hotel the 2024 T20 World Cup win. Meanwhile, Gambhir’s wife and two daughters live in Delhi’s Rajinder Nagar. Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant’s contrasting numbers in IND vs BAN 1st Test
On the professional front, Kohli and Pant had contrasting numbers in the first Test. Kohli departed for below-par scores of 6 and 17 in his two innings. The 35-year-old, however, fell prey to a wrong LBW decision by on-field umpire Richard Kettleborough, who failed to find the inside edge. The right-handed batter also decided against the DRS review, which cost him his wicket.
Kohli will now look to leave behind his failure in the opening Test and start afresh in the second Test as he prepares for the three-match Test series against New Zealand next month. The Delhi batter needs 35 runs to complete 27,000 runs in international cricket.
Apart from Kohli, India captain Rohit Sharma also flopped in the opening Test, returning with single-digit scores of 6 and 5 in his two innings.
On the other hand, Pant smashed 39 and 109 in his two innings. The left-handed batter scored a century on his comeback Test after returning to competitive cricket earlier this year. The 26-year-old had missed 15 months of action due to a car accident where he sustained multiple injuries days after his previous Test in December 2022.
