"If throwing wicket away is art, Rohit Sharma is Picasso!" - Fans roast Indian captain for throwing his wicket away again

Once again in Test cricket, Rohit Sharma managed to throw away a good start. The Indian captain looked good for his 46 during India's second innings against Sri Lanka in Bengaluru. But in a bid to up the ante, he perished by hitting a big shot.

Rohit couldn't quite get to the pitch of the ball and failed to time it properly. The ball landed straight into the hands of Angelo Mathews at long-on, leaving the 34-year-old dejected.

Twitter trolls Rohit Sharma for poor shot selection

Fans on Twitter, meanwhile, were disappointed to see Rohit Sharma failing to convert his good start into a big score. Some even trolled him for not learning from his past mistakes.

Here are some of the reactions:

Nhi Rohit, hadbadi nahi 😬
In 2 inning out of 3 Rohit threw his wicket after getting set, considering his age only thing I can say.
Rohit never peaked. Rohit never finished. Either he produces a masterclass or disaster. Nothing in between.
If throwing wicket after good start is an art, then Rohit Sharma is picasso of it.
Rohit Sharma departs for 46 runs from 79, throw away another good start like last 2-3 months - India 98 for 2.

India in complete control of Bengaluru Test

Having taken a massive lead of 143 runs, it was going to be interesting to see India's approach in their second innings. Rohit and Mayank Agarwal began well, but the latter once again failed to carry on after looking good.

Rohit built an important partnership with Hanuma Vihari and the duo looked assured at the crease. Just then, Rohit Sharma threw his wicket away and that brought Virat Kohli to the crease.

Although India lost Vihari soon after, Rishabh Pant took the attack to the Sri Lankan spinners. The visitors had no answer to some sensational hitting from the 24-year-old. Pant went on to become the fastest Indian to score a Test 50, bringing up the milestone in just 28 balls.

Despite losing both Kohli and Pant, India are now in a fantastic position in the second Test. With the lead swelling towards the 350-run mark, it will be interesting to see whether the hosts put the visitors into bat under the lights.

Sri Lanka will need to bat incredibly well if they are to salvage anything positive from this Test match.
