Virat Kohli was dismissed lbw in both innings

Although Virat Kohli got a grand welcome at the crease both times he went out to bat, he could contribute a lot with the willow. The former captain was dismissed for 23 in the 1st innings, trapped lbw by Dhananjaya de Silva.

In the 2nd innings as well, he fell leg before for 13, this time to Praveen Jayawickrama. On both occasions, the ball stayed low, making it difficult for Kohli to get bat on it.

Despite Kohli’s twin failures, Team India find themselves in command in the pink-ball Test courtesy of Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah. While Shreyas scored 92 and 67, Pant contributed 39 and 50. Bumrah claimed 5 for 24 in Sri Lanka’s first innings and sent back Lahiru Thirimanne for a duck in the second.
