IND vs SL: India and Sri Lanka's last match scorecard in Women's T20 World Cup 2024

Harmanpreet Kaur-led India will take on Chamari Athapaththu’s Sri Lanka in Match 12 of the ongoing ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Dubai on Wednesday, October 9. The Women in Blue lost their opening game against New Zealand by 58 runs but then bounced back to win their second game by six wickets against arch-rivals Pakistan.

On the other hand, Sri Lanka have lost their first two games against Pakistan and Australia by 31 runs and six wickets, respectively. A loss for either of the teams might put an end to their campaign.

India will be keen to avenge the defeat against Sri Lanka they suffered in the Women’s T20 Asia Cup final earlier this year.

In T20 World Cups, the two teams have locked horns five times. India lead the Islanders 4-1 in head-to-head clashes. Harmanpreet Kaur and Co. beat Sri Lanka by seven wickets in their previous meeting in Melbourne in the 2020 edition.

Batting first, Sri Lanka put up 113/9 in their allotted 20 overs. Chamari Athapaththu starred with the bat, scoring 33 runs off 24 balls, while Kavisha Dilhari chipped in with 25 off 16 deliveries. Radha Yadav emerged as the pick of the bowlers, picking up four wickets, while Rajeshwari Gayakwad bagged two wickets. Deepti Sharma, Shikha Pandey, and Poonam Yadav too scalped one each.

In response, India achieved the target with 5.2 overs to spare. Shafali Verma top-scored with 47 off 34, including one six and seven boundaries. Udeshika Prabodhani and Shashikala Siriwardene bagged one wicket apiece.

Sri Lanka’s scorecard from their last T20 World Cup match

Sri Lanka lost to Australia by six wickets in their last T20 World Cup game in Sharjah on Saturday, October 5.

Batting first, the Chamari Athapaththu-led side put up 93/7 in their allotted 20 overs. Nilakshika de Silva top scored with an unbeaten 29 off 40 balls, while Harshitha Madavi chipped in with 23 off 35. Megan Schutt was the pick of the bowlers for Australia, picking up three wickets, while Sophie Molineux bagged two. Ashleigh Gardner and Georgia Wareham shared one wicket each.

In response, Australia achieved the target with 5.4 overs to spare. Beth Mooney starred with the bat, scoring an unbeaten 43 off 38, comprising four boundaries. Udeshika Prabodhani, Inoka Ranaweera, and Sugandika Kumari picked up one wicket each.

India’s scorecard from their last T20 World Cup game

India beat Pakistan by six wickets in their last T20 World Cup match in Dubai on Sunday.

Opting to bat first, Fatima Sana’s Pakistan posted 105/8 in 20 overs. Nida Dar top scored with 28 off 34, while Muneeba Ali and Syed Arooba Shah chipped in with 17 (26) and 14* (17), respectively. Arundhati Reddy was the wrecker-in-chief for the Women in Blue, returning with figures of 3/19, while Shreyanka Patil bagged two wickets. Renuka Singh, Deepti Sharma and Asha Sobhana bagged one wicket apiece.

In response, India achieved the target with seven balls to spare. Shafali Verma, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues also chipped in with 32 (35), 29* (24), and 23 (28), respectively. Captain Fatima Sana bagged two wickets for the Women in Green, while Omaima Sohail and Sadia Iqbal picked up one wicket apiece.
