IND vs ZIM 2024, 5th T20I: Who won yesterday’s India vs Zimbabwe match?

India beat Zimbabwe by 42 runs in yesterday's (July 14) T20I match at the Harare Sports Club. With the triumph, the Men in Blue claimed the five-match series 4-1. Zimbabwe won the toss and opted to bowl first in the final T20I. India posted 167-6 on the board and then bowled out Zimbabwe for 125 in 18.3 overs.

The Men in Blue got off to a poor start with the bat, losing three wickets for 40 runs in the first five overs. Yashasvi Jaiswal (12) slammed Sikandar Raza for two sixes in the first over but was knocked over by a yorker-length delivery. Abhishek Sharma (14) was caught behind off Blessing Muzarabani, looking to go after the bowler. Shubman Gill (13) then pulled one from Richard Ngarava to mid-on.

Sanju Samson (58 off 45) steadied India's innings with a defiant half-century that featured one four and four sixes. Handy cameos from Riyan Parag (22 off 24) and Shivam Dube (26 off 12) aided India's cause. Dube was run out at the start of the last over following a mix-up with Rinku Singh (11* off 9).


Mukesh stars with 4 as Zimbabwe crumble in the chase

Chasing 168, Zimbabwe lost Wessly Madhevere for a duck as he chopped a length ball from Mukesh Kumar back onto his stumps.

Brian Bennett (10) was the next to go, slapping one from Mukesh to deep backward point. Mukesh also knocked over Tadiwanashe Marumani in the fifth over, but it did not count as the Indian pacer had overstepped.

Marumani eventually perished to Washington Sundar for 27, miscuing his slog sweep. Dion Myers (34) then miscued a short ball from Dube to short third man. Skipper Raza was run out for 8 following a complete lack of communication with Johnathan Campbell. Faraz Akram contributed 27 off 13, but his cameo only delayed the inevitable.

Samson scored a fine half-century, which included four fours. Dube played a nice cameo and picked up two wickets as well. Mukesh impressed with the ball, claiming 4-22 in 3.3 overs.
