India are favorites, but England are wounded lions: Wasim Akram ahead of IND vs ENG 2023 World Cup match

Former legendary Pakistan pacer Wasim Akram feels that India will go into their 2023 World Cup game against England in Lucknow as favorites on October 29. However, he also reckons that the Men in Blue need to be wary of their opponents as they might come up with a completely different brand of cricket.

England are rock bottom of the points table at the time of writing with three losses from four games and probably need to win every remaining game to make it to the semifinals. Akram feels that with their backs to the wall, Jos Buttler and Co. may come out all guns blazing in Lucknow.

Speaking exclusively to Sportskeeda alongside former Indian cricketer S Sreesanth, here's what Wasim Akram had to say about the India vs England game:

"India are favorites to win against England, but England are wounded lions. They will know that they have to win and that could see them approach the game differently. However, India have played with controlled aggression."

Hope India emulate Australia's 2003 World Cup campaign: Sreesanth

Sreesanth has been highly impressed with the way India have played their cricket so far with five wins from five. He gave the example of the invincible Australian team of the 2003 World Cup and is hopeful that the Men in Blue can go unbeaten the whole tournament and clinch the title in a similar fashion.

On this, Sreesanth stated:

"I hope India emulate the Australian team of 2003 and go unbeaten in the entire World Cup. As an ex-cricketer and an Indian, I want the team that has done well in an all-round way to win and that's been India so far."

India and England will face each other with contrasting form in Lucknow, but as the tournament has shown so far, any team can be beaten on any given day.
