"India have a great opportunity for a hat-trick" - Wasim Jaffer on India's chances of winning the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024/25
Former Indian opener Wasim Jaffer feels the Indian team have a golden opportunity to win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024/25. India have won the previous two editions of the Test series Down Under, both by a 2-1 margin.
Jaffer believes the availability of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj could be a key factor to the visitors putting up a good show in Australia. He also spoke about the likes of Arshdeep Singh and speedster Mayank Yadav being X-factors in the conditions Down Under.
Responding to the queries of fans on X (formerly Twitter), here's what Wasim Jaffer stated
"If Bumrah, Shami, and Siraj stay fit and are able to play most of the series, India have a great opportunity for a hat-trick down under. Arshdeep could bring the left-arm option. And Mayank Yadav dark horse provided he's fit and available."
Wasim Jaffer roasts Michael Vaughan on the latter's query about Team India
Former England captain Michael Vaughan and Wasim Jaffer have had some incredibly hilarious interactions on X and one such incident took place when Vaughan responded to Jaffer's post about asking any question.
Vaughan asked Jaffer about India's scoreline in the ODI series against Sri Lanka, taking an indirect dig at the fact that the Men in Blue couldn't even win one game in their 0-2 series loss. Here's what Vaughan wrote:
"Hi Wasim... What was the recent ODI series result in Sri Lanka ? I have been away and missed it... Hope all is well."
Wasim Jaffer took the opportunity to remind Michael Vaughan that England had won zero Tests on Australian soil in the past 12 years. Here's how he responded:
"I'll put it in Ashes terms for you Michael. Ind won as many games in that series as the Tests Eng have won in Aus in last 12 years 😏."
Jaffer previously named India's historic Test win at the Gabba in 2021 as his favorite Test result.
