India vs Bangladesh: Who won yesterday’s Super 8 match in 2024 T20 World Cup?
India beat Bangladesh by 50 runs in yesterday's ICC Men's 2024 T20 World Cup at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua. Sent into bat, the Men in Blue put up 196-5 on the board as Hardik Pandya hammered 50* off 27. In the chase, Bangladesh were held to 146-8 as Kuldeep Yadav starred with 3-19.
Earlier, Team India got off to a much better start with the bat as their openers added 39 in 3.4 overs. Skipper Rohit Sharma (23 off 11) came out all guns blazing and slammed three fours and a six before being miscuing one off Shakib Al Hasan.
Virat Kohli also seemed to rediscover his rhythm, striking one four and three sixes.
Just when it looked like he was getting back to his best, Kohli (37 off 28) was knocked over by Tanzim Hasan Sakib as he attempted a wild slog. Suryakumar Yadav (6) came in, slammed a six and then got out, caught behind as Sakib got some extra bounce off the track.
Rishabh Pant (36 off 24) contributed a crucial knock, but it was Pandya's innings that made the difference. He added 53 runs for the fifth wicket with Shivam Dube (34 off 24). Hardik struck four fours and three sixes in his wonderful knock, finding the gaps with ease. Dube also played a significant innings, hammering three sixes before being bowled by Rishad Hossain.
India bowlers prove way too good for Bangladesh
Chasing 197, Bangladesh got off to a decent start as their openers added 35. The stand was, however, broken when Litton Das (13) was brilliantly caught by Suryakumar at deep square leg off Pandya's bowling. Kuldeep then ended Tanzid Hasan's (29) stay at the crease, trapping him leg before with a googly.
In his next over, Kuldeep sent back Towhid Hridoy (4). The batter was also caught in front of the stumps as he missed his slog-sweep. Kuldeep had his third when he foxed Shakib (11) with change of pace and induced a false stroke out. Bangladesh had lost half their side for 109 when skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto (40 off 32) top-edged a length ball from Jasprit Bumrah (2-13).
Hossain (24 off 10) had some fun before he too perished to Bumrah. At the other end, Arshdeep Singh (2-30) also helped himself to a couple of scalps as India completed the formalities without much fuss.
