India Women’s white-ball squads for series against West Indies announced, no place for in-form pacer

The BCCI, on Friday, December 13, named India Women's squads for their upcoming white-ball home series against the West Indies that starts on Sunday, December 15. The biggest name missing from both squads was all-rounder Arundhati Reddy, who was in excellent form.

Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana are the captain and vice-captain, respectively, of the ODI and T20I squads. The team was in Australia recently to play a three-match ODI series, but unfortunately, they were whitewashed 0-3.

Familiar faces such as Jemimah Rodrigues, Richa Ghosh, Uma Chetry, Deepti Sharma, and Renuka Singh Thakur, among others, feature in both squads. However, the absence of Reddy, who picked up 4-26 in the final ODI against Australia in Perth, is shocking.

Indian pacer Arundhati Reddy has been in fine form of late

The first T20I of the three-match series will be played between the two teams on Sunday, December 15, in Navi Mumbai (which will also host the other matches). The action will then move on to Vadodara, where all three ODI matches will be played at the Reliance Stadium starting on December 22.

Reddy had recently made a comeback into the national team after consistently doing well for Kerala in domestic cricket. The former Hyderabad all-rounder has gone through a lot of ups and downs in her career. However, having picked up 11 wickets in her last eight matches across formats, she must be disappointed.
