Indian cricket legend issues clarification over fake quotes attributed to him
Former India captain Anil Kumble took to social media to inform that someone is using his fake quotes amid the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The 54-year-old clarified that he has no association with those claiming to be him.
The legendary spinner urged everyone to stay vigilant and not to believe in imposters with the same name. He asked them to always cross-check and verify the details.
The former India head coach said:
"It has come to my attention that some social media accounts are using my image and attributing fabricated quotes to me. I want to categorically deny any association with these accounts and their content. The statements being circulated are not my views and do not reflect my opinions in any way."
"I urge everyone to be vigilant and not believe everything they see on social media. Please verify the authenticity of any information before sharing it. My official social media channels are the only reliable source for my views and statements," Kumble added.
Former India skipper Sunil Gavaskar recently threatened legal action against a website for writing a fake article using his name. In a video posted on Instagram, Gavaskar said:
"Hi, this is Sunil Gavaskar, and I want to say that there is a website, Cricket Ception, which has printed an article under my name. I have to say that it is completely fake. I have not contributed to that at all, and I want to tell that website to take it down immediately. Issue an apology. If you don’t do that, I will give the matter to my legal team. So, don’t believe a word of what you’ve read. This is a completely fake article attributed to me."
