IPL 2022: Faf du Plessis' captaincy record in T20 cricket
Faf du Plessis was named the new captain of the Royal Challengers Bangalore team ahead of IPL 2022. The former South African skipper will captain an IPL franchise for the first time in his career.
He previously represented the Chennai Super Kings and the Rising Pune Supergiant in the league. MS Dhoni captained du Plessis in most of the matches while he played one season under Steve Smith's captaincy.

The South African star has a 25-15 record as the T20I captain of his country. He has also won 28 ODI matches and 18 Tests as the Proteas skipper.
In franchise cricket, du Plessis has previously led the Comilla Victorians, Paarl Rocks, St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots and St. Lucia Kings. He has also captained the World XI in the past.
Overall, he has played 79 T20 matches as a skipper, registering 43 victories and 34 defeats. One of the games ended in a tie while another ended with no result. It will be interesting to see how du Plessis performs as the Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper in IPL 2022.
