Delhi Capitals' new recruit Sarfaraz Khan is eagerly looking forward to making an impact in the upcoming IPL 2022 for his new franchise. The 24-year-old was picked up by the Capitals in the auction for a base price of INR 20 lakhs.

Sarfaraz Khan has been in sensational form for Mumbai in red-ball cricket. Since making his return to Mumbai from Uttar Pradesh, Sarfaraz has played nine games and has scored a sensational 1479 runs at an outstanding average of 147.90.

He has also scored five centuries with the highest score of 301*.

Previously considered just a white-ball specialist, Sarfaraz Khan proved his critics wrong by letting his bat do the talking in red-ball cricket. The youngster believes that it is all about confidence and if shown faith, he can certainly deliver in the IPL as well.

Speaking to The Indian Express in an exclusive interview, here is what Sarfaraz Khan had to say about his performance with the bat:

"I can do better if someone gives me that confidence and has faith in me. It is the same when no one thought I could play red ball, but I knew I could if I got the opportunity, because I had been working for four-five years on my red-ball game. Similarly, the day will come when I will score in the IPL too."
"In πŸ” form" would be an understatement for Sarfaraz Khan these days 🀯

Sarfaraz Khan could be a key part of Delhi Capitals' middle-order

The Delhi Capitals have a strong opening combination in the form of David Warner and Prithvi Shaw. However, there are a lot of places up for grabs in the middle-order.

Sarfaraz has scored 441 runs in 40 games in the IPL at a modest average of 23.21. However, most of his knocks have come as a finisher and he can certainly bat well if given more responsibility.

It will be interesting to see what combination skipper Rishabh Pant goes in with as the Capitals look to win that elusive maiden IPL title.
