The veteran, who has not played any competitive cricket since last season, is in Surat with the other members of the squad as they work hard in their pre-season training camp.

MS Dhoni had a disappointing run with the bat in the IPL last year. Across 16 games, he could muster only 114 runs at an average of 16.29, with 18* as the highest score. Fans of Chennai Super Kings will be hoping that Dhoni will bounce back this season with a few match-defining performances.
Aakash Chopra expresses concerns about CSK's death bowling options for IPL 2022
Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra opined that CSK lacks effective slog over bowlers ahead of IPL 2022. In death overs, neither Chris Jordan nor Adam Milne are reliable, according to him. Chopra also pointed out that Bravo is past his prime and nearing his swansong, which means the side cannot solely rely on him for the task.
In a video on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra reviewed CSK's bowling department ahead of IPL 2022. He said:
There is Dwayne Bravo, Chris Jordan, Adam Milne - among them Chris Jordan is probably a death bowler, Dwayne Bravo is 39 and will be about 42-43 by the time this cycle is over, there is a slight problem for sure. Josh Hazlewood was also not your gun death bowler, Deepak Chahar is not your gun death bowler, Dwayne Bravo's best is behind him, Adam Milne is not your death bowler. But Dhoni somehow manages it."
Chopra further added:
"Their death bowling will lose them one or two matches, this they also know apart from me and you. But will their campaign be derailed because of that - no. They will find a way to be effective."
The upcoming season will commence with a blockbuster contest between IPL 2021 finalists KKR and CSK on March 26 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
