IPL 2025 auction long list: How many Indian players have registered at the highest base price of ₹2 crore?

As many as 1,574 players have registered for the IPL 2025 mega auction, which will be held on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The long list will be pruned after the tournament organizers receive inputs from the 10 franchises.

If we talk about Indian names in the long list for the IPL 2025 auction, as many as 23 players have registered at the highest base price of ₹2 crore, as per a report in ESPNcricinfo. The list includes three former captains who were not retained by their respective franchises - Rishabh Pant (Delhi Capitals), KL Rahul (Lucknow Super Giants) and Shreyas Iyer (Kolkata Knight Riders).

Spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal, who were released by Rajasthan Royals (RR), have also listed their base price as ₹2 crore. Pacer Mohammed Shami, who has been out of action due to injuries since the 2023 ODI World Cup final and was released by Gujarat Titans (GT), is another prominent Indian name in the highest base price category in the IPL 2025 auction long list.

The other Indian cricketers who have listed their base price at ₹2 crore are Venkatesh Iyer, Avesh Khan, Ishan Kishan, Mukesh Kumar, Khaleel Ahmed, Deepak Chahar, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Prasidh Krishna, T Natarajan, Devdutt Padikkal, Arshdeep Singh, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Siraj, Harshal Patel, Krunal Pandya, and Umesh Yadav.


Mitchell Starc, Jofra Archer list base price of ₹2 crore for IPL 2025 mega auction

Among overseas players, Australia's left-arm seamer Mitchell Starc and England fast bowler Jofra Archer have registered at the base price of ₹2 crore for the IPL 2025 auction. Starc became the most expensive player in IPL history when he was purchased for ₹24.50 crore by KKR at the IPL 2024 auction. Injury-prone Archer last played for Mumbai Indians (MI) in 2023, featuring in only five games.

Each of the 10 IPL franchises can build a squad with a maximum of 25 players. With a total of 46 players being retained by the franchises, as many as 204 slots will be up for grabs at the IPL 2025 auction in Jeddah.

All the franchises were given a purse of ₹120 crore to build their squads for IPL 2025. Following retentions, Punjab Kings (PBKS) have the highest purse remaining (₹110.5 crore), while Rajasthan Royals (₹41 crore) have the lowest. The teams have been given the option of retaining six players directly or via Right to Match (RTM), with a maximum of five capped and a maximum of two uncapped.
