IPL 2025 auction on November 24-25 in Jeddah, 1,574 players register
Jeddah in Saudi Arabia will host the IPL 2025 auction on November 24-25. 1,574 players, including 1,165 Indian and 409 overseas, registered for the auction within the November 4 deadline.
Among these, 320 are capped (those who have played international cricket) players, 1,224 uncapped players, and 30 players from Associate Nations.
This isn't the final list to go under the hammer, though. Only those players who'll see interest from a few of the 10 franchises would make it to the auction. 48 capped Indians have registered for the mega-event alongside 272 international stars. 965 uncapped Indians and 104 uncapped overseas players will join them.
After India, South Africa has seen the most registrations with 91, followed by Australia (76) and England (52). Ten players from the USA, four from Canada, two from Scotland and one each from the UAE and Italy have also put their names in. Pakistani players, meanwhile, continued to be barred from the event.
Those going to the auction from this list will compete for just 204 slots as each franchise will be allowed to fill a maximum squad of 25 players. The registration lists are generally not made public but the final list is released before the auction.
Mega stars to go under the hammer in IPL 2025 auction
The two-day event is likely to be one of the grandest in IPL history. Thanks to the difficult retention policies, a lot of star players will likely be available in the auction, including last season's winning captain Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul, apart from many overseas stars like Jos Buttler.
This auction will mark the beginning of a three-year cycle till the next such event for IPL 2028. As per the new rules, only those overseas players who registered in this auction will be allowed to take part in the mini-auction of 2026.
