Harmanpreet Kaur led from the front in the Women’s Asia Cup game between India and United Arab Emirates (UAE) at Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium on Sunday, July 21. The right-handed batter scored 66 runs off 47 balls with the help of one six and seven boundaries.

During her knock, Kaur stitched together a 75-run partnership with wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh for the fifth wicket. Kaur came out when the Women in Blue were reduced to 52-3 and stayed till the 19th over. She was run out in the last over.

With her fifty, Kaur also became the first batter to complete 500 runs in the Women’s Asia Cup (T20Is). She also went past former Australia captain Meg Lanning (3405) for second-most runs in Women's T20Is. She is now only behind New Zealand's Suzie Bates (4348).

The duo took all the bowlers to the cleaners as the team reached 200 for the first time in the shortest format.

Kavisha Egodage starred with the ball for the UAE, returning with figures of 2/36, while Samaira Dharnidharka and Heena Hotchandani bagged one wicket each.

Kaur and Co. kicked their tournament campaign with a seven-wicket victory over arch-rivals Pakistan in this edition’s opening game. The Women in Blue are seven-time Women’s Asia Cup champions. They beat Sri Lanka in the previous final.
