Is there a reserve day for the India vs South Africa 2024 T20 World Cup final?

India will face South Africa in the ICC Men's 2024 T20 World Cup final at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados, on Saturday, June 29. Both the Men in Blue and the Proteas head into the summit clash by not losing a single match so far.

Team India beat 2022 champions England by 68 runs in the second semifinal at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. Earlier, South Africa, who will be appearing in their first World Cup final, thumped Afghanistan by nine wickets in the first semifinal in Trinidad.

There is a prediction for rain and a thunderstorm during the 2024 T20 World Cup final between India and South Africa in Barbados on Saturday. To deal with weather conditions and delays, the ICC has set June 30 as the reserve day for the final. In case the match cannot be completed on the scheduled day, the reserve day will come into effect.

As per ICC's playing conditions for the tournament, a maximum of 190 minutes of extra time has been allocated to the final and also to its reserve day. In case the final moves into the reserve day, it will start at the same time as the time of the final - 8:00 PM IST [10:30 AM local time].

Even though there is a reserve day in place, every effort will be made by the umpires and the match officials to ensure that the 2024 T20 World Cup final is completed on the scheduled day of the clash itself. As per clause 13.6.2.2. of ICC's playing conditions for the 2024 World Cup:

"If the reserve day is allocated, every effort will be made to complete the match on the scheduled day with any necessary reduction in overs taking place and only if the minimum number of overs necessary to constitute a match cannot be bowled on the scheduled day will the match be completed on the reserve day."

A minimum of 10 overs per innings need to be bowled for a result in the ICC Men's 2024 T20 World Cup final between India and South Africa. This was not the case in the group stage and the Super 8 round, where five overs per innings were enough to constitute a match.
