Is Rishabh Pant playing today’s IND vs BAN 2024 1st Test?
Team India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is in the playing XI for the first Test against Bangladesh. The match is being played at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, starting Thursday, September 19.
Pant makes a comeback in Tests after 725 days. The southpaw last featured in a red-ball game for Team India in 2022 against Bangladesh. Pant then suffered multiple injuries in a horrific car crash which saw him out of action for more than 18 months.
Pant made his comeback in competitive cricket with Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024. He also captained the side and enjoyed an eventful season, scoring 446 runs in 13 matches.
The 26-year-old also played for Team India in T201s. He was named as the keeper against Ireland in India's first match of the 2024 T20 World Cup, with the Men in Blue winning the tournament for the second time.
The Delhi southpaw also featured for Team India in the third ODI against Sri Lanka. He affected Pathum Nissanka's dismissal and scored six runs as India slumped to a 110-run defeat.

Bangladesh have won the toss and decided to bowl first in the 1st IND vs BAN 2024 Test
Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bowl first in the first Test. Team India skipper Rohit Sharma had the following to say about the team selection at the toss:
"We would have also done the same with challenging conditions on offer. We want to focus on what is at hand, not what is ahead of us. We came here, had good prep ahead of this game and have done everything that has to be done. We have gone with three seamers, Akash Deep, Bumrah, Siraj, Ashwin and Jadeja."
Team India, batting first, have scored 14/1 after six overs. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill are currently in the middle.
