Is Riyan Parag playing today’s 3rd ODI of IND vs SL 2024 series?
Riyan Parag is making his ODI debut for Team India in the series decider against Sri Lanka at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Wednesday, August 7. Parag received his ODI cap from former Men in Blue skipper Virat Kohli. The Assam-born all-rounder has replaced Arshdeep Singh in the playing XI.
At the toss, India captain Rohit Sharma revealed they have made two changes in the form of Riyan Parag and Rishabh Pant. He said:
“We have Rishabh and Riyan Parag in place of KL (Rahul) and Arshdeep (Singh).”
Riyan Parag has represented India in six T20Is so far. The right-hander has managed 57 runs in his four innings and bagged three wickets at an economy rate of 6.48. The part-time spinner would be handy for the Men in Blue in tricky conditions of Sri Lanka. The 22-year-old finished with career-best figures of 3/5 against Sri Lanka in the first of the three T20Is last month.

Sri Lanka captain Charith Asalanka won the toss and chose to bat first against India in the series decider. The hosts made a solitary change, as spinner Maheesh Theeskahana replaced Akila Dananjaya in the playing XI.
At the toss, Asalanka said:
“We are going to bat first. It looks same like the previous two ODIs. Theekshana comes in for Akila Dananjaya. Guys are doing very well, we are in a good position. I would like to see someone score a hundred on this pitch.”
Notably, Sri Lanka won the second ODI by 32 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series after the first match ended in a tie. They bundled out the visitors for 208 in a 241-run chase. The opening game ended in a tie as the two teams returned with equal scores of 230.
The Men in Blue must win the game to avoid an ODI series defeat against Sri Lanka for the first time after 1997.
