“It is a great relief” - Tushar Deshpande undergoes successful ankle surgery in London
Indian cricketer Tushar Deshpande posted an update on Instagram on Tuesday, October 1, about his ankle surgery, which was successfully carried out on September 30 in London. The 29-year-old was last seen in action during India's five-match series against Zimbabwe in July 2024, which the Men in Blue won 4-1.
Tushar was left out of the Mumbai squad for the Irani Cup 2024 and the list of probables for the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy, as he was scheduled for surgery. On Tuesday, the pacer shared a post, captioning it:
“This post comes as an update about my ankle surgery which was done yesterday and went very well. It is a great relief as I was dealing with it for quite a long time.”
“I am very grateful to my family, friends and all my fans for the well wishes, love and trust they have shown towards me. Here on, I start my journey to recover better than before and come back stronger,” he added.
The Mumbai cricketer featured in five matches during the 2023-24 Ranji Trophy season, taking 15 wickets at an average of 25.86 while playing a key role in his team's successful campaign.
Tushar Deshpande made his India debut earlier this year in Zimbabwe
Tushar Deshpande was acquired by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL 2022 mega auction for ₹20 lakhs but he only featured in two matches that season. He turned his career around in 2023, claiming 21 wickets in 16 games and playing a key role in CSK's fifth IPL title victory.
Continuing his strong form in 2024, Deshpande took 17 wickets in 13 matches, maintaining an economy rate of 8.83. His impressive performances led to a national call-up for the five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe earlier this year. The Mumbai cricketer played in two matches, securing two wickets.
