"It may look easy on television, but it is not" - Rohit Sharma hails India's fielding in IND vs BAN 2024 Test series

Team India skipper Rohit Sharma praised his side's fielding and catching during the just-concluded two-Test home series against Bangladesh. The hosts won both games by comfortable margins of 280 runs and seven wickets respectively to complete a series whitewash.

Several Indian players made their mark by pulling off spectacular catches during the two Tests with little to no mishaps. In a video shared by the BCCI on their official website, the day after the second Test win in Kanpur, Rohit made sure he pointed out India's exceptional fielding by saying [2:05]:

"It may go unnoticed, but I was just informed that out of the 24 catches that came our way, we took 23 of them, which is a great result. Especially in the slips, you don't often see in India a ball carrying through the slips. But the guys who were standing behind were so sharp and to take those catches, it may look easy on television, but it is not."

He added:

"Trust me, because they are standing way ahead than they normally do. So all those catches that come their way, they are very hard to take. The reaction time is very less. And I have seen it, they put a lot of effort in getting those things right. And Dilip obviously is helping with the players. Some crucial catches as well, which actually turned the game around."

Rohit himself set the tone on the fourth morning of the Kanpur Test by plucking a brilliant one-handed catch at mid-off to dismiss Litton Das.

"Siraj is a great athlete, superb athlete, gives it everything on the field" - Rohit Sharma

When asked about Mohammed Siraj's sensational one-handed catch on Day 4 of the second Bangladesh Test, Rohit Sharma praised the pacer for his commitment on the field and with the ball at all times.

Siraj displayed incredible athleticism and reflexes to remain focused and dive backward to pull off the stunner at mid-off to dismiss Shakib Al Hasan.

"Siraj is a great athlete, superb athlete, gives it everything on the field. Even when is bowling on a flat pitch where there's not much happening, he wants to do something and make something happen. Talk to the batter, make him slightly uncomfortable so that he and the team gets into the game," said Rohit in the aforementioned video [2:52].

During India's customary post-match dressing room 'Best-Fielder' Medal ceremony, Siraj emerged as the joint-winner with Yashasvi Jaiswal for the two-match series.
