"It’s becoming worst" - Rishabh Pant schools fan for spreading fake news about him wanting to captain RCB

Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper Rishabh Pant slammed a social media user for spreading fake news of him approaching Royals Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction. The fan claimed that Pant was keen to be RCB's next captain and approached the franchise through his manager.

The user claimed that Virat Kohli didn't want RCB to rope in Pant due to the latter's 'political tactics'. Commenting on the post, the keeper-batter clarified that there was no truth to the information.

Urging fans to stop spreading misinformation that could lead to an untrustworthy environment among the players, Pant wrote on the microblogging platform X:

"Fake news . Why do you guys spread so much fake news on social media. Be sensible guys so bad . Don’t create untrustworthy environment for no reason. It’s not the first time and won’t be last but I had to put this out .please always re check with your so called sources. Everyday it’s becoming worst . Rest it’s upto you guys . It’s wasn’t just for you it’s for a lot for people who is spreading misinformation. Tc"

It is worth mentioning that Rishabh Pant made his IPL debut with Delhi Daredevils (re-christened as Delhi Capitals) in 2016. He was appointed as the captain of the Delhi-based team in 2021 and it remains the only franchise he has played for in the league.

Rishabh Pant returned to competitive cricket after 14 months with IPL 2024

Rishabh Pant remained on the sidelines for almost 14 months after being involved in a tragic car crash in December 2022. The southpaw made a return to competitive cricket earlier this year during IPL 2024.

The wicketkeeper captained DC in IPL 2024. However, the side had an underwhelming campaign, finishing sixth in the standings with seven wins and as many losses. Pant was the leading run-getter for his team in the edition, amassing 446 runs from 13 outings at an average of 40.54.

The 26-year-old made a comeback to international cricket in the 2024 T20 World Cup. He was the third-highest run-scorer in the Men in Blue's title-winning campaign, finishing with 171 runs across eight innings.

Pant made a fantastic return to Test cricket, notching up his sixth century in the format in India's recently concluded Test series opener against Bangladesh. He will be seen in action in the second fixture of the two-match series, beginning Friday, September 27, in Kanpur.
