"It's time to retire" - Fans blast Virat Kohli for another failure in 3rd IND vs NZ 2024 Test
Virat Kohli once again failed to deliver with the bat on Day 3 of the third and final Test against New Zealand at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday, November 3. The right-handed batter departed for just one run, caught by Daryl Mitchell off Ajaz Patel in the slips. This was his second failure in the match after managing just four runs before getting run out in the first innings.
Kohli had previously returned with scores of 1 and 17 in the second Test against the Kiwis. The 35-year-old had scored a duck and 70 in the opening game as well.
Fans on X trolled Kohli for his twin failures in the third Test. One user wrote:
@ViratKohli, it's time to pass the baton! You're a legend, no doubt, but legends also know when to make way. Your contribution is invaluable, but now it's time for talented youngsters like Sai Sudarshan to shine. No one is greater than the game! It's time to retire."
Another user wrote:
"Yet Another failure for Virat Kohli, so disappointing. @BCCI don't humiliate us by selecting these useless players considering his recent form."
A third user added:
"If Virat Kohli is not willing to retire he should be dropped unceremoniously. So too Rohit Sharma. Past performance can't be the basis for perpetual selection. Perform or perish should be the mantra."
