"Itna jaldi to meri wife ka mood bhi change nahi hota" - Irfan Pathan's hilarious take on Perth pitch for BGT 2024-25 1st Test

Irfan Pathan recently reacted to the Perth pitch getting better for batting on Day 2 (Saturday, November 23) of the first Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 Test between India and Australia. The former cricketer pointed out how the nature of the surface changed drastically on the second day.

Both Indian and Australian fast bowlers ran riot on Day 1 of the Perth Test, with a total of 17 wickets falling. However, the liveliness of the pitch was missing on the subsequent day as conditions got significantly better for batting.

Sharing pictures of the pitch, Pathan joked that even his wife's mood doesn't change as quickly. The cricketer-turned-commentator wrote on X:

"Itna jaldi to meri wife ka mood bhi change nahi hota jitni jaldi ye pitch badli hai (My wife's mood also doesn't change as quickly as this pitch). "

It is worth mentioning that India won the toss and chose to bat first at the Optus Stadium. The visitors were bundled out for just 150 on the opening day. However, they made a strong comeback, bowling out Australia for just 104. Skipper Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the Indian bowlers, bagging a stunning five-wicket haul.

The Indian openers dominated the proceedings on the second day. Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul remained unbeaten on 90 and 62, respectively, as the side finished 172/0 at stumps.

"As solid an opening partnership as you’ll see on Australian soil" - Irfan Pathan on Yashasvi Jasiwal and KL Rahul

Irfan Pathan was mighty impressed by Indian openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul's batting exploits in the second innings. He suggested this was as good as an opening stand can get in Australian conditions.

Pathan wrote:

"This is as solid an opening partnership as you’ll see on Australian soil. Jaiswal played some truly mind-blowing shots!"

The Indian openers did a commendable job against Australia's formidable bowling attack. The Jasprit Bumrah-led side are now firmly on top of Australia, having gained a 218-run lead.
