"Jaldi out kar London niklna hai"- Top 10 funny memes after India's batting collapse in 1st Test vs Australia in BGT 2024-25
Team India batters faced the ire of fans after their failure in the first innings of the first Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 Test against Australia in Perth. It came after India's poor show at home, where New Zealand whitewashed them in a three-match Test series.
Stand-in Indian captain Jasprit Bumrah won the toss and opted to bat first on a spicy wicket. Left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc gave a brilliant start to the hosts by dismissing in-form Yashasvi Jaiswal for an eight-ball duck. Devdutt Padikkal, who was drafted into the squad on the eve of the Test, walked in at number three. However, he struggled to put bat on ball in testing conditions before Josh Hazlewood dismissed Padikkal for a 23-ball duck.
Virat Kohli (5) also failed to arrest the slide of wickets, falling to a rising delivery. KL Rahul (26) fought hard at one end and tried to weather the storm with a wonderful defensive technique. However, his 76-ball stay at the crease ended in the 23rd over after a controversial decision from the third umpire. Rishabh Pant (37) and Nitish Reddy (41) played vital knocks to help India reach 150 before getting bundled out in the second session.
Jasprit Bumrah and company then put on a magnificent performance with the ball and kept India in the contest by reducing Australia to 67/7 at stumps on Day 1.

"Really surprised with Ashwin and Jadeja not playing" - Sunil Gavaskar on India's playing XI for 1st Test vs Australia BGT 2024-25
Former cricketer Sunil Gavaskar was not pleased with Indian team management's decision to pick Washington Sundar in the playing XI ahead of veteran spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin. He pointed out their exceptional record in red-ball cricket and vouched for their selection in the contest against Australia.
"Really surprised with Ashwin and Jadeja not playing, they have got 900 wickets between them in Test matches. They are not bowlers who can just play in Indian or sub-continent conditions. They are very clever bowlers, they are very experienced bowlers. Even if they might not get you wickets, they will be able to slow the scoring down because of the cleverness of how they bowl," Gavaskar said during commentary (via Hindustan Times).
