Jason Holder ruled out as West Indies name 15-man squad for WI vs BAN 2024 Test series

Cricket West Indies (CWI) have announced a 15-man squad for the two-Test series against Bangladesh at home, beginning on November 22 and extending until December 4. All-rounder Jason Holder will miss both Tests as he continues his rehabilitation for a shoulder injury.

Justin Greaves and Kevin Sinclair have returned to the fold after missing the home series against South Africa in August. Greaves has received the nod after a sensational run in the CG United Super50 Cup, scoring three centuries. Sinclair, meanwhile, has emerged as a valuable spin-bowling all-rounder, showing promise in the two Tests he has played.

The two Tests set to take place in Antigua and Jamaica will be crucial for both West Indies and Bangladesh as they are part of the World Test Championship (WTC). Bangladesh are currently eighth on the points table, while the Caribbeans are ninth.

West Indies squad for Bangladesh Tests: Kraigg Brathwaite (c), Joshua da Silva (vc), Alick Athanaze, Keacy Carty, Justin Greaves, Kavem Hodge, Tevin Imlach, Alzarri Joseph, Shamar Joseph, Mikyle Louis, Anderson Phillip, Kemar Roach, Jayden Seales, Kevin Sinclair, Jomel Warrican.

West Indies head coach Andre Coley believes the build-up to the series, encapsulated by two practice matches will be critical. He said, as quoted by the Cricket West Indies' official website:

"We expect the series against Bangladesh to be a competitive one between two emerging squads. The build-up to the series, through the two-day warm-up match and training camp will provide us with the best possible preparation, as they will afford opportunities for both experienced and emerging players to fine-tune their skills ahead of the Test series."

Brathwaite will captain the CWI Select XI warm-up match squad against the Tigers, scheduled for November 17 and 18 in Antigua. The two sides will also play three ODIs and as many T20Is after the Test series.
