Jasprit Bumrah appointed as vice-captain, Yash Dayal left out as Team India announce squad for the IND vs NZ 2024 Test series

Team India announced a 15-man squad for the upcoming three-match Test series against New Zealand on Friday, October 11. Uttar Pradesh and Royal Challengers Bengaluru pacer Yash Dayal was left out of the squad announced for the Tour against Bangladesh.

The original 16-man squad named for the two-match Test series against Bangladesh has been retained, with Dayal being the only player to be left out. In other developments, Jasprit Bumrah has been named as the vice-captain after Team India decided not to name one for the Bangladesh Test series.

This move seems to come as an afterthought with reports circulating that regular Test skipper Rohit Sharma could miss the series opener for the 2024-25 Border Gavaskar Trophy. Mohammad Shami remains absent from the squad, with the pacer eyeing a return in the Ranji Trophy

The Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) posted a press release on their official account on X announcing the squad for the three Tests against New Zealand.
