Jasprit Bumrah presents 2024 T20 World Cup medal and Player of the Tournament trophy to his mother
Team India's ace speedster Jasprit Bumrah was adjudged the Player of the Tournament in the recently concluded 2024 T20 World Cup. The Men in Blue won the coveted trophy, beating South Africa by seven runs in the final.
After reaching home, Bumrah presented his Player of the Tournament trophy and the 2024 T20 World Cup winners' medal to his mother Daljit. He shared a post on his official social media handles, in which his mother can be seen holding the trophy with the medal around her neck.
It is worth mentioning that Jasprit Bumrah's mother has played a major role in his success. Daljit was a school principal and the sole breadwinner of the family after the death of her husband Jasbir.
Speaking about his mother's contribution, here's what Bumrah said during an interview with GQ India in 2022:
"My mother had to start working. We had seen ups, and then one day we were back to zero. So now, when we are back to another high, we stay stable because we have seen that low. We know that we cannot go crazy. That period has taught us so much. My mother has done so much for us, and we cannot ever repay her."
Jasprit Bumrah picked up 15 wickets across eight outings at a fantastic economy rate of 4.17 at the 2024 T20 World Cup. He bowled a stunning spell in the final as well, registering impressive figures of 4-0-18-2.

Speaking at India's felicitation ceremony at the Wankhde Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday, July 4, Virat Kohli reserved high praise on Jasprit Bumrah, hailing him as a once-in-a-generation bowler.
On being asked if he would sign a petition that named Bumrah the eighth wonder of the world, Kohli said (via Jio Cinema):
"I will sign the petition right now. Let him decide what to do with the schedule. We want him to play as long as possible. He is a once-in-a-generation bowler and we are so glad he plays for us."
South Africa required 22 off 18 balls with five wickets in hand after the end of 17 overs in the 2024 T20 World Cup. Bumrah bowled a terrific over under pressure, giving away just two runs while taking the important wicket of Marco Jansen.
