Jos Buttler snapped up by Gujarat Titans for ₹15.75 crore in IPL 2025 Auction
England white-ball captain Jos Buttler will head to the Gujarat Titans ahead of IPL 2025 as the franchise shelled out ₹15.75 crore on Day 1 of the Auction. The swashbuckling opening batter was part of the Rajasthan Royals since 2018, having also plied his trade for the Mumbai Indians in the lucrative league.
The right-handed batter has an outstanding record in the IPL, scoring 3582 runs in 107 matches, averaging 38.11 alongside seven centuries alongside a best of 124. The 34-year-old had also won the Orange Cap in the 2022 edition with the Royals as he mustered 863 runs in 17 innings at 57.53, hammering four centuries. However, the inaugural IPL champions missed out on the title, losing to the Gujarat Titans in the final.
The Lancashire keeper-batter was in supreme form in the recent T20I series against the West Indies, compiling scores of 0, 83, 4 and 38.
"Thank you for welcoming me and my family with open arms" - Jos Buttler
After being released by the Royals, the Englishman took to Instagram and paid tribute to them and revealed how much he has loved wearing the pink jersey over the years. Buttler wrote on his official Instagram account:
"If it turns out that this is the end, thank you @rajasthanroyals and everyone involved with the franchise for 7 incredible seasons together. 2018 kickstarted the best years of my cricketing career and many of my most cherished memories have come in a Pink shirt over the last 6 years.
"Thank you for welcoming me and my family with open arms. Could write so much more but let’s leave it there."
The Titans, who were captained by Hardik Pandya in the first two seasons, had a stellar time, winning the title in 2022 and reaching the final the following year. However, Shubman Gill's captaincy couldn't produce the same result as they failed to reach the playoffs.
