Nitish Kumar Reddy and Rinku Singh's blistering fifties power India to 221 in 2nd T20I vs Bangladesh 2024

Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto won the toss and opted to bowl first in the contest.

The pitch was two-paced at the start, which did not favor the free-flowing strokes of the batters. Still, Sanju Samson (10), Abhishek Sharma (15), and Suryakumar Yadav (8) tried to play aggressively but perished in the process, leaving the home team in a spot of bother at 41/3 in 5.3 overs.

Twenty one-year-old Nitish Kumar Reddy, playing his second game for India, displayed wonderful temperament under pressure and played a match-defining knock of 74 (34). Rinku Singh played the ideal foil with a fluent contribution of 53 (29) at the other end as the duo put on a 108-run partnership for the fourth wicket.

Even though their team lost three wickets inside the powerplay, Nitish and Rinku did not get into their shells and play defensively but batted with positive intent and hit boundaries at regular intervals. Nitish impressed everyone with his strokeplay, especially against the spinners.

Hardik Pandya (32) and Riyan Parag (15) provided the finishing touches to the innings with some lusty blows in the last few overs. Taskin Ahmed (2/16) bowled an economical spell for the Bangladesh side in the bowling department.
