Kanpur weather forecast September 30: What are the chances of rain on Day 4 of the 2nd IND vs BAN 2024 Test?

Just like Day 2, Day 3 of the second Test between India and Bangladesh at Green Park in Kanpur on Sunday, September 29 was also abandoned due to wet outfield without a ball being bowled. With just two days left in the Test match, the game now seems headed for a draw.

Only 35 overs of play have been possible in the second Test between India and Bangladesh in Kanpur so far. India won the toss and opted to bowl first. They reduced the visitors to 107-3 as pacer Akash Deep claimed two wickets, while off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin picked up one.

Looking at the weather forecast for Day 4 of the Kanpur Test on Monday, September 30, the prediction looks rather promising. As per AccuWeather, the conditions will be mostly sunny in the morning, with the temperature in the range of 31 degrees Celsius. The probability of precipitation is as low as three percent, while only around 15 percent cloud cover is expected.

Shifting focus to conditions in the afternoon in Kanpur, the weather will remain mostly sunny, with the temperature rising slightly to 33 degrees Celsius. The probability of precipitation falls even further to one percent, while there is only expected to be six percent cloud cover.

What a draw in Kanpur means for India's WTC final qualification hopes

Despite the promising weather for Monday, the Kanpur Test looks all set to end in a draw. In such a scenario, India's qualification path for the World Test Championship (WTC) final becomes a bit tricky.

Rohit Sharma and co. are currently on top of the 2023-25 WTC points table. They have played 10 matches and have points percentage (PCT) of 71.67. Assuming the Kanpur Test ends in a draw, India will need to taste wins in five of their next eight Test matches to confirm their place in the WTC final, assuming that the other top-two contenders do not drop points.

Looking at the current state of the WTC points table, Australia are second, with PCT of 62.50. Sri Lanka, who hammered New Zealand in Galle on Sunday, are in third position. They have PCT of 55.56, while England are fourth with PCT of 42.19.

After the Test series against Bangladesh, India will host New Zealand for three Tests. They will then fly off to Australia for the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
