Kaun Banega Crorepati features question on cricket ground which created history in 2024

Renowned Indian television quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati featured a question on a cricket ground which created a unique record this year. The question was asked in the episode which went on air on Thursday, November 28.

Bollywood star and host of the show, Amitabh Bachchan, asked the contestant the following question:

"In 2024, which ground became the first to host 300 men's international cricket matches?"

The options provided were: Lord's, Wankhede, Sharjah Cricket Stadium, The Oval

The correct alternative to the above question was option C - Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Sharjah Cricket Stadium achieved the feat of becoming the first ground in cricket's history to host 300 men's international cricket matches when it hosted Afghanistan's first ODI against Bangladesh earlier this month.

The contestant was asked this question for ₹3.20 lakh and used the Phone-A-Friend lifeline, eventually answering the question correctly. The show has featured many trivia questions regarding cricket and its various tournaments.


A short look at Sharjah Cricket Stadium and its history

Sharjah Cricket Stadium has hosted over 300 men's international games, with many teams from the subcontinent playing at this venue since its inauguration in 1982. The 16,000-seater venue's first game was an ODI game between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, which was won by Sri Lanka.

The venue has hosted many big games, such as matches between India-Pakistan, India-Sri Lanka, and India-Australia. The ground is renowned for the famous desert storm knock played by Sachin Tendulkar back in 1998, where he scored 143 runs against Australia.

Sharjah Cricket Stadium has also hosted various multinational events. Tournaments such as the 1997/98 Coca Cola Cup, Men's T20 World Cup 2021, Men's Asia Cup 2022, and ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024 were held at the stadium.
