KBC asks a cricket-related question ft. IND vs NZ
A cricket-related question was asked on the popular quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) in its latest episode aired on Tuesday, December 3. The question was regarding a player from the recently concluded three-match Test series between India and New Zealand.
The question read:
"Which of these New Zealand cricketers was born in Mumbai, having roots in Jogeshwari locality of the city?"
There were four options for the multiple-choice question. They were New Zealand cricketers Rachin Ravindra, Dipak Patel, Ish Sodhi, and Ajaz Patel.
Take a look:
Notably, Ravindra and Dipak were born in Wellington, New Zealand, and Nairobi, Kenya, respectively. Meanwhile, Ish Sodhi was born in Ludhiana, Punjab.
The correct answer is Ajaz Patel. The left-arm spinner was born in Jogeshwari, Mumbai in 1988. The price tag of the question and whether the contest gave the correct answer remains to be seen.
On the work front, Ajaz had a memorable outing in the third and final Test at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The Kiwis won by 25 runs to whitewash India 3-0 in the series.
In the game, Ajaz scalped 11 wickets and became the overseas player with the most scalps at the venue (25 scalps in four Tests).
"All his balls were very effective" - Sri Lanka cricket legend lauds Ajaz Patel
Sri Lanka cricket legend Rangana Herath has lauded Ajaz Patel for his exploits with the ball in the third Test. He pointed out how Ajaz was effective with the ball, telling ESPNcricinfo:
"Ajaz is super interesting, because in the previous Test he'd played at the Wankhede, he'd taken all ten wickets in the first innings, and four wickets in the second. The difference between the previous pitches and this one is that on the Wankhede, you have the red soil, and when it turns there, it turns very sharply."
"Ajaz has a lot of revolutions on the ball, and so almost all his balls were very effective. Because he tosses it up, he especially gets that very sharp turn," he added.
Ajaz Patel finished with 15 wickets in the three-match series. The 36-year-old is currently playing for the Central Districts in the 2024 Plunkett Shield.
