KBC features a question on the Indian cricket team’s performance that fans would like to forget

Famous Indian television quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) featured a question on India's record of losing a Test series at home. The episode was aired live on TV today, December 10.

The host of the show, Amitabh Bachchan, posed the following question ahead of the contestant:

"Which was the last year before 2024 in which the Indian men's cricket team lost a home Test series?"

The options provided for the aforementioned question were: 2000, 2012, 2007, and 2004.

The correct answer to the question is option B, 2012. Before being blanked 3-0 by New Zealand at home, India were handed a Test series loss at home by England back in 2012. After winning the first Test, Team India suffered losses in Mumbai and Kolkata before the fourth Test ended in a draw.

The series ended 2-1 in favor of England. Monty Panesar and Graeme Swann wreaked havoc in the Indian camp as they ran through the batting attack. This was India's first home series loss since 2004 when Australia beat them by a similar margin.

India's dominant home record came to an end with the series whitewash in the IND vs NZ 2024 Test series

Team India's record of series wins across 12 years came to an end with the series loss against New Zealand. They lost the first Test by eight wickets before New Zealand bowled them out and won the second Test by 113 runs, taking an unassailable 2-0 series lead.

New Zealand would then go on and register a 25-run win in the Test played in Mumbai to complete a 3-0 series sweep over Team India. With that victory, New Zealand bolstered their chances of an appearance in the World Test Championship final.
