KKR vs LSG, IPL 2023: List of Impact Players in today's match
The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have won the toss and have opted to field first against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Saturday, May 20.
KKR have retained the same side that beat the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their last outing. LSG, on the other hand, have made two changes to their side. Karan Sharma and Swapnil Singh have come in place of Deepak Hooda and Krishnappa Gowtham.
Here is the list of the Impact Player subs in today's match:
Lucknow Super Giants: Yash Thakur, Kyle Mayers, Daniel Sams, Deepak Hooda, and Yudhvir Singh.
Kolkata Knight Riders: Suyash Sharma, Mandeep Singh, David Wiese, Anukul Roy, and Narayan Jagadeesan.
KKR were the first team to use the Impact Player sub, introducing young leg-spinner Suyash Sharma in place of Harshit Rana. LSG, on the other hand, injected young fast bowler Yash Thakur in place of Karan Sharma.
Speaking at the toss, KKR skipper Nitish Rana stressed that they would like to play positively and finish the tournament on a high.
"We'd like to bowl first," Nitish said. "Not a strategy but we need to win by a big margin and I'd like us to play positively. Last home game of the season and I want us to finish the tournament on a good note."
"Lots of positives - Rinku's innings, and the way the middle-order has batted in patches throughout the season, the fast-bowlers have done well in patches," he added. "Jason Roy and Suyash too - lots of positives and we've learnt a lot of things. As a captain too I have learnt a lot."
LGS skipper Krunal Pandya, on the other hand, stressed that they would have also fielded first. However, stressed that they now need to put runs on the board and defend it.
"If we won the toss, we would have also fielded first," Krunal said. "But at the end of the day, have to play good cricket. We know where we are in the table, our destiny is in our hands. In the last game, we were under pressure as a batting unit. Put up a good total and then defended it."
