KL Rahul returns to bat in training ahead of the BGT 2024-25 1st Test: Reports

Team India middle-order batter KL Rahul has reportedly returned to batting in the squad training held today (Sunday, November 17). Rahul had copped a blow on his elbow in the match simulations that were held last week.

KL Rahul is expected to open the innings alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal in the first Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 at Perth. The 32-year-old played the second unofficial Test between India A and Australia A at Perth and had measly returns, with scores reading 4 and 10.

Ahead of the first Test, Team India held intra-squad match simulations at the WACA, in which players from both India A and the squad for the Australian tour participated. Opening the batting alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rahul took a blow on his elbow on the bowling of Prasidh Krishna.

The physios and the team staff immediately took him off the field. As per their assessment, the injury wasn't serious and Rahul didn't return to bat as a precaution.

Now, a positive news comes for the team ahead of the first Test, with KL Rahul reportedly resuming his batting drills in the training held on Sunday.

As per ESPN Cricinfo, Rahul had a solid workout session along with the other Team India stars, that lasted almost three hours. Post that, he had a net session that was about an hour long, but didn't look as fluent compared to when he walked out to bat alongside Jaiswal on Day 1.
